Great Concept, But The Thrill Is Gone
When I was introduced to this podcast via PCHH, I was excited to have a movie review podcast with a Black voice leading conversations. I looked forward to pressing play on this show after walking out of the theater after seeing a film myself. After over a year of listening, I find myself left disappointed by the host’s consistent bleak tone at nearly every moviegoing experience, especially as of late. As a listener, it feels like the show and movie watching is an inconvenience to him. It comes across like it’s an obligation and burdensome to see the movie and talk about them. He comes across entitled as if he does the show as a vehicle for access to industry events/perks and a way to be a part of the conversation but not because he actually likes moviegoing, unless it’s his specific type of movie — which seems to be very rare these days.

Ronald’s reviews are smart and informative. The reviews are short and sweet and I agree with Ronald’s opinions.

I love instant responses to movies -- often more than a critic's studied analysis because that's where the emotions are so fresh. This podcast includes a nicely deep love of film, combined with that emotional honesty -- a good touchstone. Keep up the good work!Read full review »

Podcast. Not so much as disagreeing with assessments of film but c’mon man where’s the excitement of viewing a film you enjoy? And the yawning during the critic?.. Nea stick to “Time.Well.Spent.”
