“As a distance learning student, it is often hard to acquire the same access to resources as you would find within a red brick university.
As a student, we are encourage to maintain a networking and commercial awareness ability to illustrate to potential law firms - or similar - our awareness and commitment to the law.
During the pandemic many have found this harder than normal and perhaps it was an advantage to be a distance learner knowing the expectations through your own resource.
However, something that has proved to be the utmost essential for me is to listen to the Legally Speaking Podcasts from Kissoon Carr hosted by Robert Hanna.
The dialect and interviews are extremely useful in understanding the ethics and details of a law firm, to ensure when you are applying it is line with your morals and understanding to know if you would fit in.
Other appearances help to understand that you are not alone and understand that the large corporations are run by humans making the whole experience more personal.
As someone that is studying, when asked, the legally speaking podcasts are a tip I hand to aspiring legal professionals. The host Robert Hanna is a really great interviewer throughout and the resources he has gone to set the ideal standard that recruiters should follow in an industry that is hard to enter into.
I would like to take this time to thank Robert and Kissoon Carr for their continued support in these podcasts and look forward to many more.”
