Best modern speculative/ Sci-Fi
Consistently one of the best podcasts I listen to. I read and listen to many sci-fi and horror short stories and find these some of the most interesting. Great place to pick up newer authors’ names to later read their full novels. I was interested in (and read most of) the classic sci-fi authors from Mary Shelley to Arthur C Clarke, from Wells to Murakami. Also obsessed with many other sub genres from lovecraftian to cyberpunk. I feel like I was stuck in the past until I found this podcast! These stories represent speculative fiction in a completely modern way. They tackle issues of sexuality and gender identity in a way that puts all movies made on the subject to shame. Realistic stories involving queer people in non-forced ways. This is the future or how we write about our future. Charlie Jane Anders, Octavia Butler and Ken Liu were some of the best authors I discovered from this podcast.

It is exciting to find SF and is well-read, features real characters, interogates society and is still fun to read/listen to. The narrators voices are mellow and don't prevent me from enjoying the story.Read full review »
