Hello Beloved, I've had this story brewing for about six months now. It's traveled a long road and a few of my dear friends have heard it at various points. I was writing a screenplay for another project and had the opportunity to write and enter a 2000 word short story at the same time. I thought, why not. The last day of the short story contests comes and I have only fragments of ideas. The theme for the story "treasure hunts". This is what the seed of my genie story and a 4 hour deadline came up with. I've edited it a bit since that 4 hour jam, and wanted to share it. This is my fairy tale about the power of words to strip a person's soul away and the power of words to claim it back. It goes out to the many friends I have who have lived this toxic version of love and survived. Keep fighting.
