I have my favorites, and I hope the show has helped you find yours too. But I’m going to cop to something here. This week we have bassist Darren Frate and of the many wonderful and versatile pieces he’s composed and played he added my favorite to the set list.    Some artists will cover songs by others, and that’s ok, but Darren will occasionally do original compositions in the style of others, and as someone who used to love to listen to Wayman Tisdale play bass, Darren’s ‘Tisdale’, which you’ll hear on this week’s show makes me just incredibly happy. It’s one piece in an incredible and fun show but I think we can all relate to how great it is when an artist you respect plays a piece you really, really enjoy.   Featuring Darren Frate on bass, Dave Kasper on saxophone, Efrain Hernandez on drums and Brent Hamker on guitar, and from a February 10th, 2023 performance, it’s the Darren Frate Group – Live at the Bop Stop.   Live at the Bop Stop is made possible by The Music Settlement – serving Northeast Ohio by offering music instruction, music therapy, and early childhood education since 1912. The Music Settlement's mission is to welcome all to our music and arts community to learn, create, inspire, and heal.   This program is recorded at the Robert Conrad Studios at the Bop Stop in Cleveland, Ohio, and the studios of WBWC FM on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, Ohio.
