The rhythm section powers the jazz band whether the horn players want to admit it or not, much in the same way a ship isn’t particularly useful without a working engine room. Which brings us to this week’s performance, featuring the rhythm section of the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra.
Calling themselves the Engine Room, bassist Aidan Plank, drummer Jim Rupp and pianist Jackie Warren step out on their own for a show that features a mix of both standards and original compositions.
From a February 3rd, 2023 performance, it’s The Engine Room – Live at the Bop Stop.
Live at the Bop Stop is made possible by The Music Settlement – serving Northeast Ohio by offering music instruction, music therapy, and early childhood education since 1912. The Music Settlement's mission is to welcome all to our music and arts community to learn, create, inspire, and heal.
