Description
On this week's episode, Andrew interviews Jorge Requena Romas, the lead singer of local band The Mariachi Ghost and the Event Coordinator at the West End Cultural Centre (WECC) (directly across the street from The Gargoyle Theatre, where we are interviewing Jorge on our stage)
Born in Mexico City, Jorge moved to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba to study film under George Toles. He owns a film company with his friend, he's union trained, but he stepped away from Winnipeg's film scene to work at the WECC.
The Mariachi Ghost started as an art project among friends in 2009 and has since grown to an internationally acclaimed touring act. The band has recently been involved with many theatrical productions in Winnipeg over the past few years. They provided the soundtrack for Sonja and Richard (The Gargoyle Theatre's inaugural show by Steven Ratzlaff), and worked with Sick and Twisted Theatre Company performing Antigone.
