“I think Chris Manning is probably a really nice guy who is incredibly conscientious and earnestly wants to give fans an accurate, fair analysis of the Cavs and the team’s competitive positioning in the NBA. I bet he’s a really good friend to those who know him, and an even better member of his family. But would it kill him to laugh once in awhile when he’s on air? The show regularly lands alittle awkwardly, a little too dry - and the fix probably starts with Chris taking the stick out of his butt. And I say that with respect and admiration for the ability he does display as a dutiful reporter covering this team over the years - and there were plenty of years it probably wasn’t very fun and Chris deserves kudos for sticking with it. I think if Evan Dammarell had a little more space to inject some humor and wit into the presentation, this pod would be alot more enjoyable. And if it makes Chris squirm alittle, then even better! The analysis part of the pod is strong, but the entertainment value is pretty low for most episodes. Evan seems to have better instincts in that department, and even when his commentary goes off-color into non basketball territory it’s not a bad little break from the show’s typical “just the facts, ma’am” style. And Chris tends to shut it down very quickly, which makes the show awkward and less enjoyable. Bottom line: I like keeping up with the Cavs, but I also like to laugh. I can do both with some other Cavs pods there, and I’d like to do both with this one too.”
