So here for this reexamination of how Lolita has been misconstrued!
I studied writing and English is college and had always kind of avoided reading Lolita because, as a fellow sexual assault survivor, I thought it might be too upsetting for me. When I heard Jamie had a new podcast I was really excited because I’m a big fan of her in general. And to hear that this podcast would be kind of a deep dive into the way we as a culture have misconstrued the narrative of Lolita sounded pretty interesting to me. I ended up really enjoying the first episode, and I’m looking forward to experiencing the rest of this podcast as it unfolds.

This pod is amaze and deconstructs all the tendrils of the cultural impact lolita had on many in their formative years. Jamie is best podcaster. Sunny is bad dog probably identifies with Humbert. Fleah seems to stay out of it. LISTEN LEARN LOLITA

Two episodes in and I’m totally floored by Jamie’s narrative ability and thoughtful critique of Lolita (both the text of the book and its questionable cultural penumbra).
