Can’t Miss
Just the first episode has me interrogating my own relationship with the aesthetics of Lolita and how they’ve impacted my self-perception and my romantic history. I tried reading Lolita years ago, but this podcast got me to finally do it. I’m so interested to see what the next 9 episodes have in store. It’s clear Jamie has done a tremendous amount of research and she has a fantastic track record for impactful socio-cultural commentary.

I definitely remember reading that interview with Daniel handler where he said one of his favorite books was Lolita. I’ve never seen or read the actual story, but the reputation and the twisting of it through culture is so fascinating.

Jamie is smart and funny and the perfect person to wrestle with the complex issues the novel and it’s various adaptations bring to light.

Loved the first episode. One suggestion: the sound seems way quieter than other podcasts, had to turn stereo all the way up to hear. Other than this love it so far, great host and have learned way more than I ever knew about Lolita before in only one episode. Looking forward to more episodes.
