Stealing guests’ hearts in the Great Rift Valley, with Nicky Fitzgerald, Owner, Angama
Description
Our guest today is Nicky Fitzgerald. Nicky is regarded as somewhat of a maverick in the industry. Renowned for creating some of the world’s finest safari lodges, Nicky and her late husband Steve saved their best for last. After delighting travellers for over 30 years, building and operating over 50 luxury lodges across Africa and India for &Beyond, the beauty of Angama Mara’s location drew them out of retirement. Angama, meaning “suspended in mid-air” in Swahili, is a remarkable owner-run safari lodge, located high above the floor of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, overlooking Kenya’s Maasai Mara. It is considered by many as the loveliest game reserve on the continent.
Here, guests will find a lodge where everything is as it ought to be: two intimate camps of just fifteen tented suites each, a private airfield and access to the Mara below, tailor-made safari days and a famously warm Kenyan welcome. The lodge is perfectly complemented by Angama Safari Camp, an exclusive-use mobile tented camp sited deep in the Mara Triangle amidst the mega herds of the Great Migration.
