Description
Alexia is a 30-year old Black woman from Toronto, Canada with a knack for creating and slow travel. When she was in high school, she first heard about the possibility of teaching English in South Korea. Her interest was peaked at the possibility of combining work with her love for travel. After graduating from university, she found herself at a crossroad between finding a job in her field of studies - Communications and journalism - or pursuing a dream she had tucked away since high school. She opted for the latter and made this long-desired idea a reality. She packed her life into three and a half suitcases andmoved to Busan, a coastal city in Korea. She lived there for four years. There, she immersed herself in community, explored the Korea and various parts of Asia, and found a passion in ESL teaching.Since returning to Toronto, in 2022, Alexia’s continued teaching ESL, travelling to new destinations such as Portugal and Guatemala, and plotting her next move abroad.Tune in, to hear Alexia discuss everything from adjusting to life in Korea and her experiences as a Black woman on the peninsula.
