Landscape of Learning Episode #3
My expertise is in elementary mathematics. I am striving to relearn Algebra conceptually. I’m on a mission to build my confidence in algebra and be able bridge this understanding for others. In my studies, I am finding so many connections to so many tools and strategies we use. For example, I bought Algebra tiles and have been blown away to the connection to the area model! I also loved that you highlighted my Hero Catherine Fosnot! I have learned so much from her. I became a much better teacher after I learned about the Landscape for Learning, Number Strings, and the Contexts for Learning Mathematics. I, too, wish I had all those tools when I first started in 1996! I truly believe if we have more vertical articulation between elementary and secondary mathematics, all our students would benefit! Thanks for this very valuable podcast!

A huge thanks for making these podcasts. I listened to many as I train the summer and became sold on the idea of changing up my senior math classes. No more boring first classes for me! The activities were a hit and I was very happy with the engagement. After 16 years, I feel keen for change.
