Great Podcast! If you have any interest in filmmaking please listen.
I recently decided to get back into filmmaking and after attending a SF based film event where I told to listen to “Making Movies is Hard”. I was a little weary because everyone is hawking a podcast these days, but after being out of the film game for 10 years I figured this would help me catch up. Needless to say, I have listened to all the episodes in order and they should be required listening for all film students or anyone thinking about making a film a career. Timothy and Alrik are the original odd couple with pretty much polar opposite views on most things yet they still get along great! I think what I like best about the podcast is the honesty. No matter how soul crushing the topic these guys objectively analyze all aspects of independent filmmaking, including their chances of making it in hollywood. No punches are pulled, no happy endings here folks. But it makes for a great podcast. And it keeps me coming back every week. Plus you learn a lot about working in commercial filmmaking, what it’s like to run a small crew, how to get that “cinematic look”, etc. If you want to know the real reality of making independent films (which is 95% of us) listen to this podcast.

More reviews of Making Movies is HARD!!!
It’s so difficult to find people who will honestly talk about their life goals and the steps they're taking to achieve them. It’s great to hear Alrik and Timothy talk it all over and bring in guests from time to time for added insight. One of my favorite podcasts by far.Read full review »
