Fear and optimism in every word!
As I prepare to leave my full time job to pursue a foolish and hopefully fulfilling career in film, I look for inspiration in all places. I found the MMiH podcast in November 2015 and listened to every single episode from the beginning. Today I finally caught up, and it was worth every hour (over 25 of them). Alrik and Timothy have kept me company on commutes, during mind numbing tasks at work, and while doing the dishes. Each of them share their own perspectives and in most ways are completely opposite in how they approach a topic. I think that this allows for a great dynamic in each episode where they don’t necessarily agree with each other, but both have solid points about filmmaking. MMiH is hosted by two people who don’t always understand what is happening to them, they don’t know where their careers will lead and they aren’t afraid of sharing their dreams OR concerns about any of that! Having listened to every episode, I can really see how Alrik and Timothy have grown personally and professionally over the last year. Not only is that inspiring to someone who hopes to begin a career in film (at the ripe age of 26), but it is also helps ground my expectations. Alrik and Timothy aren’t perfect. Sometimes they ramble, they get off topic or even repeat a topic they previously discussed. I love this aspect though, because I feel like I’m figuring it out WITH them, and they’re just kind of thinking out loud while I’m in the room. Thanks Alrik and Timothy for a great show.

More reviews of Making Movies is HARD!!!
I feel like Timothy and Alrik are good friends of mine, even though we’ve never met (is that creepy?). I appreciate how honest and humble they are about the fun and brutal pursuit of the filmmaking dream, and I can relate to just about every word they say. Congratulations on three awesome years!

As a filmmaker who got started latter in life, I have to cram as much learning into whatever free time I have, whenever possible. Outside of YouTube, my holy trinity has been Masterclass, Off Camera with Sam Jones, and last, but certainly not least, Making Movies is Hard. Alrik asks great...Read full review »

This review is long overdue. Timothy and Alrik have put together a unique filmmaking podcast that not only provides loads of information but also provides a little therapy for those trying to get a movie made. There are great guests on the show but the thing that sets this podcast apart from...Read full review »
