Surprisingly poor from one of the premier critics
There are some occasionally interesting guests here, but: The daughter is almost unbearable. Apparently Maltins critical sense does not extent to his own family. I’m completely aware of how hurtful it might be to read something like this, but someone *has* to say it. She’s trying desperately to carry her weight on the show and justify her being there, and not be a token female. Instead she falls into every possible cliché and prejudice about female cohosts. She obnoxiously inserts disturbing unnecessary “perky”/ditsy observations wherever she thinks there is even the slightest bit of air or chance that she might be heard. Breaking every coherent train of thought or tread in the conversation. Spoiling what could otherwise be a unique opportunity for an interesting conversation between a professional critic and his subjects.

More reviews of Maltin on Movies
I like hearing these movie insiders discussing films. I always learn something. They keep it upbeat, even when reviewing awful movies. To cover only three movies in the time allowed, they have to stretch it out a bit, but that is where personal stories and movie backgrounds make it interesting.

Leonard's insights and questions are excellent. Jesse should stay off microphone. Her stories and anecdotes bring the podcast to a screeching halt. The Tobolowsky episode a perfect example. More Leonard no Jesse pleaseRead full review »

From episode one, this has been a wonderful podcast experience. In depth without feeling snobby, this is a show for film connesiuers and casual enthusiasts alike.
