“I heard about Marketplace Minute a couple of weeks ago and thought I’d try it. A quick update, three times a day? What’s not to like? The next morning, I was assaulted by a pair of 15-second ads, at the beginning and end of the podcast, literally yelling at me to use some credit card. I know ads are sometimes necessary, but they should be delivered in a way that doesn’t disturb the listener and detract from the podcast. This cacophonous blast sounded like a cheap, used-car spiel you’d hear on late-night TV, and is the sort of thing that repels listeners. Taking up nearly 25% of the podcast, it just ain’t worth it. Goodbye. I’m sorry you drove me away.”
