Promising Concept Mixed Results
I’m a little disappointed. I love Lever Time and enjoy David Sirota’s reporting on the Lever and the perspective he’s offered on a number of other podcasts. I was eagerly looking forward to this series. However, based on the episodes I’ve heard, the explanation of the Master Plan exceptionally confusing and overly glib. The narrative bounces around to various hyper-specific historical events and people which have contributed to the MP creation. For me it’s been a bit like listening to someone describe a conspiracist’s stringboard. And each episode Ryan tries to up the entertainment factor by throwing in a number of forced comic bits. I’d prefer they eliminate the comic bits and try to clarify the narrative to make it more coherent. I’ll likely listen to whole series again to try and understand the key elements because I think it’s important reporting but I wish it was clearer the first time through.
