Riveting storytelling backed by top-notch research
As with virtually everything The Lever news organization puts out, the investigative reporting in The Master Plan reveals data that is not widely known and certainly not a focus of mainstream media outlets. This podcast on the long tail of corruption in American politics manages to be fascinating and shocking, going beyond and underneath the well-worn crimes of Watergate. This is one of the few podcasts that I check to make sure I listen to as soon as it drops. At times the production elements are a bit overwrought, perhaps to entice listeners who might be turned off by an ostensibly dry topic. But the quality of research and analysis more than makes up for gimmicky iaudio effects.

A great compliment to works such as Democracy in Chains and anything Jane Mayer has written about the Kochs.

A deeply sourced exploration of the roots of the corruption in our government that we’ve grown too accustomed to, and too complacent about.
