“Fantastic podcast. Although I’ve only listened to the first three and a select few of the later episodes, each have been jam-packed with the creative and important ideas at the core of materials science. We get a dive into both the traditional and unconventional, challenging and expanding on what we know about materials. Most of everything is presented concisely and is accessible to a more general audience - especially in the first episode on the history of steel.
So often, the cutting-edge research in material science hides beyond the chasm of review papers and research articles unfamiliar to those new to the field. Personally, Materialism has done a fantastic job so far of bridging that gap, covering materials used in kitchen knives and skateboards to electronics and energy storage. So if you’re a student looking for a new perspective or you’re just curious about what makes up the world around you, you’re probably in the right place.”
