Professor Emeritus Maxine Greene has been a the forefront of educational philosophy for almost half a century as a teacher, lecturer and author. A beloved Teachers College faculty member since 1965, Maxine Greene has advocated for "wide awakeness" and defined the field of social imagination. Her life's work has been to encourage deep engagement in the world, which resonates through all we do at Teachers College.
Teachers College inaugurated the Maxine Greene Society to recognize and thank a community of donors whose reliable participation – year after year – exemplifies Maxine Greene’s value of deep engagement and helps further our common purpose here at Teachers College.
Dr. Greene joined the faculty at TC in 1965 and is one of the few witnesses to the historical transformation of TC since the 1960s. She has also interacted with other TC icons including John Dewey. In her 90s now, she is back on campus to speak to you, our new international students. Do not miss...
