Doesn’t he ever get time off?
As a former journalist and two-time Pulitzer nominee, I am immensely impressed by the quality of this podcast as well as Media Buzz, his Sunday-morning broadcast on Fox. He’s not only the hardest-working journalist out there, but one of the last who operates by the Society of Professional Journalist’s Code of Professional Ethics (which would serve the profession well if today’s journalists returned to it.) I left the profession more than 20 years out of concern for the direction journalism was heading. I attributed that concern to generational change as Baby Boomers (a cynical generation) moved into the editing ranks, displacing the merely skeptical editors of a previous generation. Before the change, if I had a hard-hitting story, my editor was my fiercest critic, challenging every potential weakness or omission in my story. After the change, me editors became my cheerleaders, patting me on the back for sticking it to the powerful. That’s what cynicism does; sadly it doesn’t often lead to the truth. Congratulations on a terrific podcast. May your approach to journalism prove contagious.

Great job cutting off the rhetoric and delivering real news that matters.

If you’re looking for bomb and insult hurling, look elsewhere. Howie (can I call him that?) is entertaining, informative, and a class act. Listen to a couple of episodes and you’ll start referring to him as Howie, too.
