Communicating with the LGBTQ+ community
Listen now
Description
In this episode, Nareeman and guests Peter Williams and Sophie Perry discuss tips for those looking to communicate with the LGBTQ+ community.  Do not hesitate to consult the community by reaching out to charities, organisations. Explore dedicated community platforms to find resources including data and stats. Do consider involving members of the community from your company's staff in the conversation. Define well your audience and objectives, keeping in mind that the LGBTQ+ community is made of smaller groups, which have different priorities and focus. Demonstrate an authentic interest in the community through actions that have a real impact for the community (support for charities, organisations, grants, funding). To communicate with authenticity, take the time to understand the "language" of the community (asking pronouns is one example). Guests: Peter Williams, Founder of Gayther @OfficialGayther Sophie Perry, founder of the LGBTQ+ Journalism Network @LGBTQJournoNet
