Nights in the Star Bar
The Dan Hartman track played was ‘Vertigo’ rather than ‘Relight My Fire’ which it leads into on the album. I loved Heaven and would arrive early sitting on the stairs near the dj booth to see everyone arrive, leaving as it closed to emerge into the daylight and how we danced! The bar boys were amazing but Kevin S was definitely the star. The door policy is one thing and absolutely appalling if it was discriminatory but I don’t think any club back then would play music to cater for a section of the audience. Ian Levine just built the crescendo throughout the night playing music that would ultimately lead to a dancing frenzy. Loved that place. I went almost every weekend in the early 80s.

So looking forward to this from the trailer! I’ve thought ‘if the walls could talk’ of LGBTQ venues there would be an endless pit of culture, history, drama & scandal. I’m here for all of it!
