“I am certain that GH loves his subject, unfortunately I have to agree with the listeners who have challenged his less than enthusiastic delivery. However, this does not form the main basis of my feedback. I am afraid that like Wikipedia (which I notice some people recommending as credible history!) there are a number of errors both factual and conceptual in the content of these podcasts. I have just done listening to the Clausewitz episode and was amazed that GH considers the 9 principles are the greatest legacy left by Clausewitz. Clausewitz' legacy is great but it is based more upon what he tells us about the strategic (both political and military) level of war that is important not the tactical level observations that are now pretty much superceded by the passage of time. Indeed a discussion of Book One alone is all that is necessary as an introduction to the great man's work. Sorry everyone - if you want your history accurate you have to go to a credible historian for it - sorry George.”
