Description
Many folk and roots artists write songs about real historical events, and in this hour Katie plays several such ‘story songs’ – about a mining disaster in Victoria, a racially motivated massacre in Florida, ‘missing persons’ notices at a New York bus depot, and a mighty and courageous convict woman. There are also tracks from the excellent new albums by Bobby Alu, Kacey Musgraves, Charm of Finches and Benny Elder. Here is the playlist:
Would It Feel Nice – Bobby Alu
Lonely Millionaire – Kacey Musgraves
This Beating Heart – Floyd Thursby
Leave It All Behind – Charm of Finches
Rosewood – Eric Bibb
In the Sweet By and By – Montgomery Church
Buffalo – Tom Harrison
Seventeen (Acoustic) – Benny Elder
Mary Bryant – Broken Creek
