Description
Australia’s annual NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Katie marks it every year with an hour of music by First Nations artists. This year’s songs have all been released in 2023 or 2024, and their themes include family, nature, friendship, culture and truth-telling. Barkindji man Little Jason joins Katie to talk about the music and to introduce his new JOY show, Hot Bread, which will occupy the Miss Chatelaine timeslot for the next few months while Katie takes a break. Here is the playlist:
Take Time to Take Time Out – Bobby Alu
Love From Me – Nathan May
Blood Red Moon – Nancy Bates & Aimee Volkofsky
River to the Sea – Richard J Frankland
Waku – Minaral a Minalay – Christine Anu
Gummy Bamarra – Jungaji
Video Game – Budjerah
Lordy Lordy – Emily Wurramara ft. Tasman Keith
