08 - Anger

Description
It is not the anger of other women that will destroy us but our refusals to stand still, to listen to its rhythms, to learn within it, to move beyond the manner of presentation to the substance, to tap that anger as an important source of empowerment. ——— And my anger is no excuse for not dealing with your blindness, no reason to withdraw from the results of your own actions. ——— The angers between women will not kill us if we can articulate them with precision, if we listen to the content of what is said with at least as much intensity as we defend ourselves against the manner of saying. When we turn from anger we turn from insight, saying we will accept only the designs already known, deadly and safely familiar. I have tried to learn my anger’s usefulness to me, as well as its limitations. ——— CONTENTION IS SO MUCH DIFFERENT THAN ANGER!!! https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2019/01/28/688180879/got-anger-try-naming-it-to-tame-it http://austinchanning.com/blog/2015/8/not-sad contention is wrong because it is BETWEEN PEOPLE. Anger actually resolves issues between people. Contention drives people apart. Eye rolling is more impactful than anger on divorce rates! Also, PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR ANGER AND YOUR JOY. YOUR PARTICULAR CALLING IS LIKELY AT THAT INVITATIONAL INTERSECTION. -Sarah Bessel _____ Opposition is true friendship. - William Blake ————— If you avoid the conflict to keep the peace you start a war inside yourself. ----- Practice compassion, not idiot compassion --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/marc-oslund/message
