I'm your host Today's update is as follows: The World Health Organization has raised the monkeypox alert level to 2, which means the disease is now considered to be a potential public health threat that requires enhanced surveillance and response. The United States has reported 13 cases of monkeypox, all of which have been in men who have sex with men. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued guidance on how to prevent the spread of monkeypox, including avoiding close contact with people who are sick, washing your hands frequently, and covering any skin lesions. There is no specific treatment for monkeypox, but most people recover on their own within a few weeks. If you have any concerns about monkeypox, please talk to your doctor.
