Journalists give answers that are out of touch
There are often interesting conversations on the program, but what a strange response from the journalists on the 11 February program when it comes to the hostage-taking by an armed asylum-seeker. I think Tyler Brule‘s question as to why this event disappeared from the media at some point is more than justified. It shows once again that the issue of migration, which affects many people, is simply not wanted by many journalists and in many newsrooms. I would not want to be one of the hostages. Before this event, the police had to intervene several times because of his behavior. And then to say we simply don’t have the manpower to cover the story is beyond lame. Manpower isn’t an issue with other topics. It also shows why many media are becoming increasingly unpopular with the public.

More reviews of Monocle on Sunday
Fantastic fun to listen to this on Sunday, and hear what is going on in the world. NZ news is so inward looking and frankly poor journalism - fun to see a positive spin on things, and get news headlines in a far more fun and breezy way.
