In 2017 Mandy Wilk felt sharp pains in her abdomen and found out she had stage 4 colorectal cancer. The cancer had spread to her liver and would eventually make its way to her lungs. Last summer, she received a first-of-its-kind double lung transplant at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, and she’s now cancer-free.
