“I found this podcast about 2 years ago and was thrilled when I did. Almost immediately it became one of my favorites, and I was always so excited to see a new episode drop, not just because of the expertly curated movie choices (90% of which are usually personal favorites) but also because of the fun yet in-depth analysis and discussion of the films. I binged it quickly and was so happy to find a pod that was a genuine escape from how depressing the world was around 2021. And with one flippant comment, they ruined it all for me. The “ACAB” comment during the “Wild Things” episode was jarring, highly inappropriate, and bigoted, and something I wouldn’t expect from people who know what it’s like to have society impose stereotypes on them that couldn’t possibly be universally true. There are REAL human beings behind that statement, people who work at a ridiculously dangerous and stressful job for crap pay who have the highest rates of suicide, alcoholism, depression, and divorce, and who do it because they genuinely want to serve people. 7 of them were killed in cold blood just this past month trying to protect people. They’re not a punchline for your movie podcast. I expected more from you guys than this. At the very least, it would be nice to know that this podcast was hosted by intelligent men who understood that passing judgement on an entire population was supposed to be the antithesis of what we should be doing in this modern day world.”
