okay but light on “splaining”
this podcast seems to really be missing any aspect of explaining, analyzing, debating, or even discussing opinions about musicals. it’s a lot of empty chatter between friends, without much reflection on musicals, which leaves me with basically no takeaway after each episode. i didn’t expect this podcast to be as tight and info-packed as lindsay’s video essays—which is fine, different project, different medium—but i just don’t think its conceit is very well worked out. if the gimmick is that kaveh doesn’t like or know about musicals, why aren’t we getting more of his opinions and thoughts? if the gimmick is lindsay explaining technical, historical, or textual aspects of musicals, then why do we only get a few minutes of that per episode?

It’s just ssooo funny and...Read full review »
