Attention: is important and most of the times we are indifferent to it. It is as fundamental as food; and we go blundering about, seeking ways to assuage the craving, instead of learning how to provide ourselves with what we need, sensibly and calmly. Once our attention is drawn to the mechanism of why and what we give attention to, it is as if a veil has been stripped off and we become freer in our action and choices. Lose these gifts and we are adrift. Hone and develop them and together we can make any future we choose. This is what O’Connor M.R. points to in his work titled Wayfinding: The science and mystery of how Humans Navigate the World The more we use GPS, for example, the more the parts of our brain responsible for navigation and memory shrink. And the less we know our neighbourhood. This is known as the automation paradox: the skills you automate, you lose.
