Love These
I’ve long been a fan of Mike Fenton-Stevens. When I finally got to meet him (in Bordon, Hampshire), he was just the lovely man I hoped he’d be. That comes through in these podcasts. A gentle and interested interviewer, he draws engaging stories from a range of successful actors and comedians. There are some low points: what amazes me is Mike’s ability to remain friendly with some of the most egotistic and solipsistic people I’ve ever heard trot out their inadequacies in a public broadcast (two, or perhaps three, of them to my mind, so far). I shan’t dwell on them, however, because most of his interviewees are such fascinating, charming and self-effacing people. It’s impossible to fail to warm to Chris Addison, Lucy Porter, Justin Edwards and Andy Hamilton. Genuine, endearing people! I absolutely recommend this series of podcasts . Hint: if they let Mike take part, don’t interrupt him, enjoy his stories too and seem genuinely to enjoy his company, they’re the good ones. Thank goodness they are in the majority.

Mike is a phenomenal interviewer, it’s clear that he’s friends with his guests, but he never...Read full review »
