Tries too hard yet not at all
The podcast is more concerned with telling a narrative the creatures feature in than discussing its possible meanings. The discussion of the creature’s meaning is brief to the extent this serves more as an audiobook than lecture. The story segment spends too long delivering information not relevant to the monster or even the story they are in. The reading is... lacking. Whether by direction or by narrator’s choice the readings are terrible. Everything is given utmost emphasis at all times in a seeming attempt to maintain listener interest but all it does is make the podcast actively annoying to listen to. The reader speaks clearly and doesn’t stumble, but does not have a radio voice. The “commercial break” interludes starting from episode 1 smack of palpable arrogance, even if the podcast does eventually have them. The only praise I have is of the production. The sound mixing is good.

This podcast was amazing. It had extremely good intro and a good clear narrator.

I love the idea of this show, but the overly crisp, sterile narration really turned me off. I’d like to hear the host sound more like a storyteller and less like an airplane safety video voiceover.

Well put together giving great insights into history whilst telling an awesome story like sitting around the fire listening to the elders tell stories for the younger
