“The podcast is more concerned with telling a narrative the creatures feature in than discussing its possible meanings. The discussion of the creature’s meaning is brief to the extent this serves more as an audiobook than lecture. The story segment spends too long delivering information not relevant to the monster or even the story they are in.
The reading is... lacking. Whether by direction or by narrator’s choice the readings are terrible. Everything is given utmost emphasis at all times in a seeming attempt to maintain listener interest but all it does is make the podcast actively annoying to listen to. The reader speaks clearly and doesn’t stumble, but does not have a radio voice.
The “commercial break” interludes starting from episode 1 smack of palpable arrogance, even if the podcast does eventually have them.
The only praise I have is of the production. The sound mixing is good.”
