Solar Eclipse: When the moon moves in front of the sun, so it is between earth and the sun, and blocks out our view of the sun. Our Solar System: The collection of eight planets and their moons, along with our sun. All of these are bound together by an invisible force called gravity. Our solar system is our special place within the universe. Elliptical Orbit: An oval-shaped path. The moon has an elliptical orbit moving in a sort of oval path around earth.
