The Adventures of Dack Rambeaux
Chummers, This is obviously a Horizon Corp attempt to discredit Shadowrunners in 6th World pop culture. As if we can’t do that well enough ourselves. But for all that, it is highly entertaining. It follows four ‘runners, Pox, Tech Wizard, and Zenith, led by the eponymous Dack. Dack appears to be modeled after the character Jack Burton from the obscure 5th World flatvid “Big Trouble in Little China” complete with 18 wheeler. The team is collectively known as “NeoScum”. The story takes listeners with the team on their epic Midwest UCAS quest to fill Matrix bandwidth with complete audio nonsense as they demolish balls, Pit Fight, ineptly katana pummel, huff novacoke, and bleef cyber buffalo mounted zombies. For all the over the top action, there is considerable play acting dialogue best listened to with the aid of illicit, recreational pharmaceuticals. Or perhaps without, as the dialogue swerves between mere absurdist, to “what the frag am I listening to?!” to full on auditory hallucinogenic, like a Kami crazed rigger jacked in a stolen Americar with GridNav override. While there seems to be an over arching plot, listeners will find themselves preoccupied with questions such as: - “How will Dack get the liters of lube out of his truck’s cab?” - “Will the team find edible cookie cake?” - “Is it ‘Fist Wizard’ or ‘Tech Wizard’?” - “Can Pox weaponize that accent?” - “Will Zenith get digital cooties from jacking into that cyber buffalo?” And, of course “What the frag am I listening to again?”. In summary, while I cannot condone Horizon’s (or any AAA Corps’) intentions, I strongly recommend this entertaining drivel. NeoScum will make you laugh; it will make you cry; it will make you grateful it’s free. And it will certainly keep you amused as you squat in your safe house waiting for the heat to die down from blowing up that Taco Temple. (Totally NOT me. They need to make their Cereal Kriller Chimichangas more digestive tract friendly.)
