PFAS - what we need to know
Listen now
Description
Why do we care about PFAS? PFAS have recently been making headlines under the synonym of "Forever Chemicals." They are chemical compounds used in outdoor products to provide important properties such as water, oil, and dirt repellency. The majority of PFASs are non-degradable or eventually transform into stable products that are still PFAS and can cause harm to the environment and human health. Today, the textile industry is under pressure from both regulatory bodies and conscientious customers to replace these hazardous chemicals with alternative or substitute products with less environmental impact. In this episode, we speak with Stefan Posner, a leading independent Swedish researcher and chemist whose life's work plays a critical role in phasing out these man-made chemicals that have the potential to seriously impact the health of all living beings on this planet if left unregulated.
