New Abolitionists Radio: Race, Racism, Dallas PD & Amber Guyger vs. Justice
Listen now
Description
Former Dallas Police Officer aka Slave Catcher Amber Guyger is now a convicted murderer and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. While most have been distracted by public spectacles of forgiveness by Botham Jean's little brother in a moment of emotionality and grief, there are some serious issues connected to this case and its apparent to me that the Dallas PD history is harboring racists and violent slave catchers. I would argue that the actions of some of the Black cops connected to the case including the Black Police Cheif, the Black deputy seen stroking Guyger's hair to comfort her after the guilty verdict was read, the favorable treatment she got initally that included both non-white and white cops, only provide evidence backing up what counter racist author Neely Fuller Jr said when he declared that skin color doesn't mean a thing when it comes to practicing justice or injustice. Program notes can be found on the private social media platform for BTRN.
