Better than the series it’s based on!
This podcast is brimming with dry, witty banter between long-time video game developers and enthusiast Yahtzee and Jack. Each episode consists of a mixture of off-the-cuff and well-structured video game design critiques and analysis with many laughs and is a great accompanying piece to the ‘Slightly Civil War’ series on ‘The Escapist’ channel on YouTube and their website. Whereas the web-series this podcast is based on features presenters Yahtzee and Jack roll the dice on which side of a video game argument they will be fighting on the behalf of, this podcast has the pair discussing their genuine impressions of the game-of-the-week and allows them to get across their true beliefs. Personally, this podcast is marginally superior to the series it is based on, as it is more interesting to hear the pair enthusiastically discuss what they personally believe as the “roll the dice” stance can seem quite contrived and forced causing the presenters to run out of steam with some of their lacklustre arguments. This podcast is a MUST for any Zero Punctuation fan, as well as anyone who enjoys hearing gamers joke and discuss relevant and interesting new topics every week.
