“I hate-watched Emily in Paris over the course of a weekend, and while there are so many things SO wrong with it (her eyes bulging as she insists she teach the French a little something about “customer service” was a moment where I literally had to stop watching and take a break for a few hours) I ended up kind of liking it (????) as long as I just let it “wash over me” as you guys mentioned. Maybe it’s the pandemic and the need for escape and comfort, but I don’t WANT this show to have higher stakes, or tackle intense social issues or be more realistic about Paris! Her bad influencer skills and the “made in 2005” vibe are hilarious, and everyone complains that she doesn’t speak French but they do show that she’s taking classes (and she does seeeeem to be trying! Also, French is really hard!) I loved this podcast because you guys aren’t just nitpicking it like it’s supposed to be some high quality HBO drama - but you call it out when needs must. And it really is just such a dumb show. You’ll likely be on to bigger and better things by the time Season 2 rolls around, but if you can, I’d love to listen to you guys break down another one of these candy colored trainwrecks. P.S. Camille is totally the best character I just want her to be happy??”
