This is the convo many of us are having
Mom of two under three. My friends and I have these convos all the time and I’m so glad someone is finally reporting on this immensely important and urgent topic. Living in a rural area, I’m here to say that the daycare issue is just as pervasive and elusive here as it is in a city; in some ways, it’s even worse because there are a finite amount of options. High quality daycare here is the same cost as it is for my friends in big cities - an arm and a leg. My husband and I are debt free and have good jobs but yet we find ourselves barely able to buy anything outside of our very tight budget. It’s bananas! Something has to change. If we don’t start investing in the youngest and most vulnerable group, we will continue to see huge issues in mental, physical and social wellbeing for generations to come.
