Superb somnambulations.
This was the first podcast I heard from the new collective ‘The Heard’ and I adore it. Vanessa Lowe has a pretty rare ability to take the familiar and instil in it a sense of wonder. The stories are often about things that we encounter in our day-to-day (night-to-night?) lives but Nocturne exposes them in a way that’s both fascinating and an absolute joy to listen to. The level of production is outstanding and wonderfully subtle. Soft synths lying just beneath the interviews and monologues build a beautiful, dreamy atmosphere. This is conceptually similar to the BBC’s Jarvis Cocker’s Wireless Nights, but in my opinion Nocturne is leaps and bounds ahead of it.

I really enjoy Nocturne. The music and the sound of Vanessa's voice has something about it you can almost feel or touch, like a warm blanket you can wrap around yourself while you are taken on your next journey into the night.Read full review »
