“Ditching Corporate for Career Creative" with Alex McCabe
Listen now
Description
Growing up as kids, after school activities or weekends are spent developing your interests. Some lean into sports, others further their studies, or some are encouraged by their family to follow their creativity. Alex McCabe, Co-Founder of Global Bedding and Homewares Brand Kip & Co. often spent weekends creating arts and crafts to sell at the local market, and throughout school and uni she relished music and singing, but Alex is also fortunate to be academically inclined. For the most part, if you have brains, school helps you develop and hone in on academia, and then that translates very well into the post school/uni world of a career corporate. Fast forward to that time, where Alex is an established lawyer, and steps back to reflect on how she got there, the missing piece of her inner creative and in-turn what she wanted to change. Whilst it took steps, risks and chances, she moved slowly towards a career that fulfilled her more fully. Aligned with her two best friends who are sisters, they came together as a trio, inspired to create a small business that wove together the fabrics of what they had learnt in their individual journeys, and then Kip & Co was born. What was a side hustle, starting with a limited range, to now a Global Bedding and Homewares brand vibrant with colour and creativity, they share the juggle together, affording each other flexibility to be women and mother’s and inspiring each other by their individual capabilities and contribution.    Rebecca Bull – Creator / Executive Producer / Co-Host Zoe Weir – Co-Creator / Co – Host Sophie Jackson – Producer  Social Media – Naughty Nancy Social Media Agency Website / Brand Design – Foster Creative Video Editor – Luke Morgan   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
