Description
On June 2, 2020 Blackout Tuesday was a collective action against racism and police brutality. The action, originally initiated within the music industry in response to the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. Other industries followed suit to acknowledge the moment. Nickelodeon demonstrated support for the Black Lives Matter movement by going off the air for 8 minutes and 46 seconds and sharing a message about kids' rights. Patrick Kling, The Associate Art Director for Nickelodeon Experience Design decided to take this initiative a step further by going to Twitter and creating the space for individuals to connect with him one on one about how to break into the industry and support. In this episode, Patrick shares his journey along with some tips, resources, and advice on how to break into the themed entertainment industry.  Connect with Patrick LinkedIn Twitter Youtube Things mentioned in this episode: Themed Entertainment Association IAAPA Blooloop.com InParkMagazine Looking for ways to support: Black Lives Matter: https://blacklivesmatter.com/ National Resource List: https://linktr.ee/nationalresourceslist How to enhance your Allyship for the LGBTQ Community LGBTQ Resource List: https://www.glaad.org/resourcelist A guide to Allyship:https://guidetoallyship.com/ A kid-friendly video explaining how to be an Ally: How To Be An Ally ✊🏿✊🏾| #CreatorsForChange Did you enjoy this?  You can regularly support this podcast by donating here.
