“People often criticise women’s voices, but I can assure you there is no latent misogyny behind the observation that this particular host is awful to listen to. Totally agree with previous reviews of her being dry, monotone and studiously slow-paced; it all comes off as rather pretentious and just plain tedious to the ears. A shame since she is an excellent journalist and there is clearly some good content here. If only The Australian focused as much on the production values of its podcasts as it does on the research and stories behind them. Audible formats aren’t simply about reading aloud what might be a great book/magazine article ...”
