The foil posed in that discussion was Derek Henry who was called a “freak”. Derek Henry is obviously an outstanding back, but Barkley is only 4 lbs lighter than Henry and has a much faster 40 time, better hops, cuts, and overall athleticism. A microcosm of his career was the Giants matchup against the Steelers last year where Barkley was hit in the backfield on 11 of 15 carries. If Barkley hadn’t been drafted to a garbage franchise with a garbage offensive line, he’d be considered the unanimous best RB in the NFL right now.
