Rory Steward one made me sad
Big Fi and Jane fan, but the Rory Stewart episode made me incredibly sad. Not that it was quite tough questions, glad about that, but the general contempt you could feel from them to him, seemed most unfair. It was a bit like “why didnt you fix it then” as opposed to seeing him as the actual person he is and career he has had. Any idea what he did in Iraq? He didn’t need to. It’s all so complicated and everyone has their own views, but here was a man presenting an honest view of politics and himself, someone who deeply cares, and the general vibe was “meh, my friend thinks your sexist” without a real decent explanation why. It feels like we deserve the Boris Johnson’s and the Reece Moggs and Dorries when I hear conversations like that. Ah well. Still a nice show.

More reviews of Off Air... with Jane and Fi
Love Fi and Jane’s wit, knowledge, views and friendship. I am so pleased to discover this charming successor podcast to Fortunately (BBC). Both journalists have a wonderful talent for asking interesting questions of guests and of each other. A perfect mix of serious issues and personal anecdote.
