“I understand why you are rooting for the columnists and the need to “keep an open mind” for the greater good…BUT Jeff Bezos totally recognized the point that it looks like he folded for Trump by making his decision not to support a candidate this close to the election, because it does.
He steers the ship and yes the coverage to this point has been “fair”, but this decision sends a real signal. Times they be changing…
Either as you suggest the financials with all the cancelled subscriptions mean reporter cuts and a different profile of the paper, or Bezos decides he’s going to interpret “fair” coverage with no reader response (cancellations) and a new shift in the future includes more protections for his businesses.
(Aka No one noticed the first time.)
Bottom line I don’t have an Amazon subscription to cancel, so I invested in a subscription to the Atlantic instead.”
